CLIENT BRIEF

The Clients wanted to renovate and upgrade their existing mews house in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.  A mews house has a small footprint so a creative use of the space available was a priority for the owners.  In early discussions, they expressed their preference for a clean modern look.

BEFORE

DESIGN

The decision was taken early on to infill the existing external courtyard on the side of the house (see 'before' photograph) and to construct a new stairway in this position. This meant that the area of the existing stairs could be given over to living space.  The roof of the new stairway is glazed over and the sides are opened up to allow light to permeate into the interior of the house. The house was internally rearranged and fitted out to a high standard.
